072 Mar 12/11 This is a deviation from my green theme, but one I thought I would share. Last night after receiving an email from Aurora Watch http://corona-gw.phys.ualberta.ca/AuroraWatch/ my daughter and I thought we would head across the highway and sit on the lake waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. After packing up the camera, warm clothes, snacks and hot cider we left the house in my husbands 4x4 truck. My husband was a little concerned about the recent snow and blowing and advised me to be careful about heading out on the lake because this trail was cleared a month ago and probably not used much. Well, I thought the truck was a 4X4 so no problem. Well less than 5 minutes later and only a mile and a half from home, this is where we ended up. Of course, we had to phone my husband for help and the army on the phone wasn't much help either. (My daughter's boyfriend is a Sergeant in the infantry). Turns out that when you have roadside assistance, that literally means "road" and not a trail on the lake, but AMA was kind enough to transfer me to a local towing company who winched us out. The Northern Lights didn't appear so I thought I shouldn't waste the night and tried a few nights anyway. A couple more can be seen here http://wildelifephotography.com/Photography/2011-Other-Photo-Favorites/15600400_NdNVL#1214198891_QrAnT
