Hummingbird Clearwing Moth
These little moths are out during daylight hours and love the lilac flowers. They hover in front of a flower collecting nectar then quickly move on to the next flower. Only staying a couple of seconds at each flower, they can be a challenge to photograph.

on June 13, 2010Fantastic catch!! Great light and color. I've been thinking about hummingbird moths all spring but have yet to see one. They are quite the challenge to capture. Well done!

on June 12, 2010I'm a real fan of these guys. Great job freezing so much detail on the wings because I know they were in very fast motion.
