A few weeks ago I finally bought a 400mm lens for wildlife shots. Haven't used it too much for birds or animals so I thought I would try it on flowers. This was taken off the deck which is a few feet higher than the tree.

Thanks for all the comments on the dew drops yesterday and I would like to be able to tell you all how it did it, but the honest truth is that I got lucky. A heavy dew left the 2 drops in a perfect position and when I got down to it's level this is what I saw http://wildelifephotography.com/Photography/Macros-and-Close-Up/9903858_mkX9j#890237368_YWJin I've been trying for so long to capture something like that I just grabbed a dandelion, as they seem to be in abundant supply right now and placed it behind and it worked.

While driving through my brother-in-law's field of Hereford`s we noticed a cow and her calf that were a little different. The original intent was to take a photo to show him so he could call the appropriate neighbour. Turned out that I just liked the photo.

Thank you for all your comments on yesterday's split wood and flower photo. I was happy with the amount of detail I got in the shot but something about the composition really bothered me. After discussing it at work with a friend, I decided to try another one with a slightly different composition. I think this one works for me.

Yesterday at work a co-worker and fellow Smugmugger noticed that if you stand in a certain position in the shop you could see the sunlight coming through the exhaust fans and lighting up the welding smoke.

070 Mar 10/12 Northern Lights at the lake. The past few days, we've been getting great Aurora activity in the skies, but it's been so cloudy, nothing could be seen. Yesterday the clouds cleared up and we got a little activity. I throw out the rules of photography on this one, like the rule of thirds and decided to try a portrait view of a landscape.

Ribbit.

Scooped this little guy out of the pond yesterday and placed him on a rock. He posed enough for me to go in the house, get my camera and take a few shots. This was taken with my macro lens and he let me get very close. If you look at larger sizes, you can see that the catch light in his eye is the sun.
